The Center of Excellence in Translation and Localization of the Faculty of Al -Alsun and Mass Communication organized a five-day training workshop on “Subtitling” from August 7 – 11, 2021. The workshop was led by Dr. Sama Dawood, Dr. Hanan Sharaf, and Ms. Maha Ashraf of Al Alsun Department.
Topics included the rules of subtitling, subtitling software, and subtitling challenges. The trainees also worked on a final group project. The workshop hosted Mr. Mustafa Sotohy, Netflix translator and quality control expert, who talked about the required skills of a subtitler and how to pursue a career in subtitling.
